I've also kind of fallen off the wagon in regards to that nice long, organized list of books I was going to finish each week. And of course, have bought at least 10 more books since that post. But I've actually been steadily reading 99U's book Manage Your Day-To-Day.
My favorite thing about this book, apart from...everything, is how digestible and relateable each chapter is. Even nights when I'm exhausted, I can still read one 3 page section and feel inspired and accomplished. It's exactly my kind of book - it's diverse, it's short, and it's beautifully designed. I love the spreads of full black with a short, white quote. Those are my favorite pages.
In particular, the section that's struck me the most is 'Taming Your Technology'. One quote, and then I'm off to finish the book;
"...the heroes of the next generation will be those who can calm the buzzing and jigging of outside distraction long enough to listen to the sound of their own hearts, those who will follow their own path until they learn to walk erect- not hunched over like a Neanderthal, palm-gazing. Into traffic.
You have a choice in where to direct your attention. Choose wisely. The world will wait. And if it's important, they'll call back."
